The icom Connectivity Suite - VPN is a service of INSYS icom for the simple and secure network connection of locations, plants, control centers and mobile devices via a Virtual Private Network.
A VPN is a communications environment in which access is controlled to permit peer connections only within a defined community of interest. It is constructed though some form of partitioning of a common underlying communications medium, where this underlying communications medium provides services to the network on a non-exclusive basis. |
The icom Connectivity Suite – VPN is currently split in two portals. While registration, configuration, administration and monitoring still take place on the original portal, licensing already takes place on the new portal, which the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN shares with the icom Connectivity Suite – M2M SIM.
Test the VPN service from INSYS icom and proceed as described below. Two free licences allow you to test it in practice without obligation.
1. Register with the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite
Just follow this Configuration Guide.
2. Register your devices
Register all devices that are supposed to participate in your VPN network in the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN. The Devices of the VPN participants are differentiated between INSYS icom routers with icom OS, with INSYS OS and other third-party devices. These can be PCs, controls, cameras, other routers, etc. that support OpenVPN and are referred to as PC in summary in the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN.

3. Configure your devices
In order for a device to act as a participant in the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN, it must first be configured for this purpose.

4. Order additional licences
Using the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN is bound to the purchase of VPN licences. The licences can be purchased directly in the icom Connectivity Suite.

Open the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite. [1]

5. Assign your licences to your devices
Each device that is supposed to participate in the icom Connectivity Suite – VPN requires a licence. Licences can be assigned to a device in both portals. Proceed as follows in the new portal of the icom Connectivity Suite to do this.

Open the portal of the icom Connectivity Suite.

Click in the VPN → Licences menu on the ID of the licence you want to assign to a device to open the Detailed information regarding this licence.

Click under Assigned Device on CHANGE, select the device to which you want to assign this licence and click on CONFIRM. [2]
The licence will be assigned to the selected device.
6. Change the name of your licences
The Licence Name is assigned by icom Connectivity Suite - VPN and can be changed for better distinguishability or clarity.

Click in the VPN → Licences menu on the ID of the licence you want to rename to open the Detailed information regarding this licence.

Click under Licence name on CHANGE, enter the desired name for this licence and click on CONFIRM.
The name of the licence will be changed.
7. Monitor the activities related to your licences
All activities, i.e. changes related to a licence, are logged.
Click in the VPN → Licences menu on the ID of the licence of which you want to view the activity log to open the Detailed information regarding this licence.
