Inputs and outputs (I/Os)

The inputs and outputs of the router can be used as data points in the icom Data Suite. The inputs are queried in events and the outputs are operated in actions. Number and type of the inputs and outputs depend on the router and possible installed extension cards.

It must be noted for the inputs that there are two different types:

  • LOW-active: this input is active if it is connected to GND
  • HIGH active: this input is active if it is connected to power supply and based on the electrical requirements of the PLC standard DIN EN 61131-2 for digital inputs type 1

It must be noted for the outputs that there are two different types:

  • Changeover relay: this is a three-pole relay (make/break contact)
  • Digital output: this is an open-collector output

The types that are provided by the router are described in the installation and operation manual of the respective router. The technical details of the inputs and outputs can be found there as well.

When using inputs and outputs of the router, it must be observed that these are not used by another application to avoid possible conflicts.
