The icom Data Suite is a Device App for installation on an INSYS Smart Device (router) with icom OS.

It is a comprehensive, flexible and scalable software package for the interconnection of data points with an INSYS Smart Device.

1. Situation

The icom Data Suite for an INSYS Smart Device is running in a container that only needs to be uploaded to the router and configured. The container will be supplied in form of an update packet. It is available for download here and on our icom Data Suite Update Server.

The icom Data Suite requires a valid licence with the respective activated functionality after installation. An overview of the different licences with and without costs as well as the possibility for purchase is available on our website. Without a license file, you have full access to the configuration, but some features will not be functional. Starting with version 1.12 of the icom Data Suite, it is possible to start a free test period. All functions of the icom Data Suite are available without any restrictions until expiry of this test period.

2. Solution

It is recommended to commission the router as suggested in the Quick Installation Guide. Different settings of the router may result in necessary adjustments of the settings described in the following.
The icom Data Suite can be installed on each INSYS Smart Device with icom OS from version 2.4. From icom OS 3.4 on, an installation wizard is available to facilitate the installation of the icom Data Suite. Both, the installation via the wizard and the manual installation are described in the following.
It is prerequisite that you have access to the web interface of the router.

2.1. Installing the icom Data Suite using the wizard

It is prerequisite that you have Internet access. If you already have a licence package, this must be stored on your computer. A router firmware up to version 4.1 does not permit to install the icom Data Suite without licence package using the wizard.

  1. Open web interface of the router using a browser: 192.168.1.1 [1]

  2. In the HelpWizards menu, click on Install icom Data Suite / container.

  3. Select Automatic download from the Internet and INSYS Update Server as Source in the Install icom Data Suite or other container section. [2]

  4. Click on Browse and select the licence packet [3] in the Select software licence (if available) section.
If you don’t have a licence packet at the moment and your router has firmware 4.2 or later, you can skip this step, start a free test period and install the licence later.

  5. Click on Execute wizard.
The wizard will import the container and the licence and install them. [4]

  6. Click on the link in the wizard to open the icom Data Suite in the browser. [5]

    • User name: insys (default)

    • Password: icom (default)

  7. Open the StatusLicence menu of the icom Data Suite to verify your licence.

2.2. Installing the icom Data Suite manually

It is prerequisite that the icom Data Suite packet is stored on your computer. If you already have a licence package, this must be stored on your computer.

  1. Open web interface of the router using a browser:

    • 192.168.1.1

    • User name: insys (default)

    • Password: icom (default)

  2. In the AdministrationUp-/Download menu, click on Browse in the Upload section.

  3. Select the icom Data Suite packet [6] and click on Upload.
The container will be imported. The script contained in the update packet will take care that the container is being installed.

  4. In the AdministrationUp-/Download menu, click on Browse in the Upload section.
If you don’t have a licence packet at the moment, you can skip this step, start a free test period and install the licence later.

  5. Select the licence packet [7] and click on Upload.
The licence will be imported. The script contained in the update packet will take care that the licence is being assigned to the icom Data Suite.

  6. Open the web interface of the icom Data Suite using a browser:

  7. Open the StatusLicence menu of the icom Data Suite to verify your licence.

2.3. Starting the free test period

The free test period grants full access to all functions of the icom Data Suite for a limited time.

  1. In the StatusOverview menu of the icom Data Suite, click on the Start test period button.

  2. Open the StatusLicence menu of the icom Data Suite to verify whether the test period grants access to all functions.

2.4. Manual installation of an icom Data Suite licence

It is prerequisite that the licence package is stored on your computer. Please note that licensing takes place on the router on which the icom Data Suite container has been installed, and not in the container itself.

  1. In the AdministrationUp-/Download menu of the router, click on Browse in the Upload section.

  2. Select the licence packet [9] and click on Upload.
The licence will be imported. The script contained in the update packet will take care that the licence is being assigned to the icom Data Suite.

  3. Open the StatusLicence menu of the router to verify your licence.

3. Troubleshooting

  • If the name of the container that contains the icom Data Suite has been modified after installation, it is necessary to assign the licence file to the container manually. The following steps in the web interface of the router are necessary for this:

    • Assign the licence file in the ContainerContainer menu to the container with the icom Data Suite in the Licence column.

    • Click on Save settings and activate the profile by clicking the blinking gear in the title bar ().
