The icom Data Suite allows to send data to the Cumulocity Cloud from an INSYS Smart Device.
Situation
The input of an INSYS Smart Device is to be monitored by the icom Data Suite and the value is to be sent to the Cumulocity Cloud.
Solution
The following simple exemplary application monitors input 1 of an INSYS MRX or MRO router and transmits the condition of input 1 to Cumulocity every time it changes.
This Configuration Guide is split in two steps, device registration in the Cumulocity Cloud and the necessary application configurations for sending the value to the cloud service. A device must be registered with the cloud service first before its values can be sent to the cloud. If the device is already registered, the frist step can be skipped.
Device registration
It is prerequisite that you have a Cumulocity Cloud account.
You need to know the serial number of the device to be registered.
The serial number is indicated on the device label under S/N and can also be displayed in the System menu on the System data page in the web interface of the INSYS Smart Device.
-
Log in to your Cumulocity Cloud account.
-
Click on Other applications () in the top right corner and select Device management.
-
Click on Register device in the toolbar, enter the serial number of the device and click on the Register device button.
NOTE:
The device is registered in Cumulocity with this.
Cumulocity is waiting for the first connection of this device.
It is necessary to add the Cumulocity Cloud as a server for receiving messages in the icom Data Suite to complete the registration.
-
Open another browser tab or window and start the web interface of the icom Data Suite:
-
192.168.1.10 or ids.local [1]
-
User name: insys (default)
-
Password: icom (default)
-
-
In the Messages → Cumulocity menu, add a new server () and edit it ():
-
Click on Save settings.
-
Activate the profile ().
NOTE:
The icom Data Suite will now establish the connection to Cumulocity.
You’ll then need to accept the registration in Cumulocity Cloud via the INSYS Smart Device.
-
Change back to the Cumulocity Cloud browser tab or window.
-
Click on accept.

Troubleshooting
-
You cannot accept the device registration. A pending acceptance message indicates that the icom Data Suite has not yet established the connection to the Cumulocity Cloud. Check the following:
-
Is the Server URL correct?
-
Remove the checks of the verification options temporarily if you’ve tried to protect the connection
-
Does the Smart Device have Internet connection?
