Setting up a WLAN (Wi-Fi) access point

The router permits to set up a WLAN (Wi-Fi) access point This permits easy access to the networks of the router from a third-party device via WLAN (Wi-Fi).

This is only possible if the WLAN (Wi-Fi) interface is not already used for a connection to a WLAN (Wi-Fi) network.
  • Enter the address 192.168.1.1 in a web browser and open the web interface of the router.

  • Login using the default credentials Name: insys and Password: icom.

  • Click on the question mark in the title bar (Display help text) and show the inline help regarding the individual configuration parameters. Further information is also available in the online help that can be opened using the links in the inline help of the respective subject.

  • Check under InterfacesSlot 1: WLAN the checkbox Activate WLAN.

  • Enter as Description for example WLAN (Wi-Fi) access point.

  • Select as Operation mode Access Point.

  • Select a suitable Channel for the WLAN (Wi-Fi) network.

  • Enter as SSID an unambiguous network identifier for the WLAN (Wi-Fi) network to be set up.

  • Select as Encoding Pre-shared key.

  • Select as Protocol the desired encryption method.

  • Enter under Pre-shared key the desired (secure) network key of the WLAN (Wi-Fi) network.

  • Select under Bridge to IP net, the network of the router that is to be connected to the WLAN (WiFi) networkm here the local network net2 - Local LAN.

  • Activate the modified profile with the button (Activate profile).

You have set up a WLAN (Wi-Fi) access point, which permits WLAN (Wi-Fi) access to the network selected under Bridge to IP net.

Result testing

  • Use a tablet or smartphone to connect to above configured WLAN (Wi-Fi) network and open the Dashboard of the icom Data Suite for example.

  • Enter the address https://192.168.1.10 in a web browser and open the web interface of the icom Data Suite for this.

  • Login using the default credentials Name: insys and Password: icom.

  • In the Status menu, click on Dashboard to open the Dashboard in a new browser tab.
